Description

The Ormsby Guitars Goliath Headless GTR is our production version of the Goliath made in our Australian custom shop. It made its official debut at winter NAMM 2017 with an astounding reception by various players from around the world. The Goliath Headless GTR represents the latest in ergonomic multiscale guitars.

Available for preorder: scheduled for Feb 2021 but this is not guaranteed and the date may be somewhat later – please bear that in mind before reserving.

The Goliath GTR features a unique headless stock piece that reduces the weight and size of the guitar dramatically when compared to more traditional guitars and is tuned at the bridge. The Goliath utilizes an easy access bolt-on neck construction that gives the player full control over its 24 stainless steel frets, and a beautifully balanced D shape with round shoulders provides just the right feel and ‘meat’ to the neck.

Multiscale is a standard feature of the Goliath GTR and helps to complete the ergonomic benefits of the guitar as a whole. Every Goliath Headless GTR comes with a custom fitted gig bag that is compact, functional and most importantly durable.

As with all our GTR models, the Goliath utilises our custom designed pickups to produce a variety of tones that allow your guitar, effects, and amp to function in unison and retain their individual characteristics. This guitar can go from the cleanest cleans to the heaviest of metals (or djents!) with plenty of tones in between thanks to its coil-splitting options. For even the most avid tone chasers who demand versatility from their instruments, the Hot Rock A8 and Concordia A5 humbucking pickups have been designed with coil split functionality in mind for extra tonal variety.

As with all our guitars, custom hardware is used for our bridge, locking nut, and control knobs, so you’ll stay blissfully in tune.

DIMENSIONS
The fanned arrangement of the Multiscale fretboard creates scale lengths for each individual string. We generally call this the “spread”. For the GTR range, the spread is as follows:
Eight string: 25.5 – 28.2″ Multiscale

Due to the increased scale length on the bass side, the tension of the strings increases. We recommend you try dropping a gauge on the bottom end, for example, if you usually use 9-46’s, try 9-42’s. To learn more about Multiscale, please view our information page here.

Body dimensions (thickness): 38mm Goliath GTR. For comparison, Jacksons, Ibanez RG, Fender Strats, etc are generally 47mm.

HARDWARE
The bridges are custom made for us to exacting tolerances by our partners at Hipshot USA, using a variety of materials proven for longevity and tone.

TONE
Our own Nunchucker A8 Humbucker features pride of place in the bridge position, with an De La Creme A2 in the neck. Both of these pickups are made to our own specifications by our partners in Korea. 500k pots for volume, a 3 way toggle, and 500k push/pull tone pot for coil splitting. Bone nut.
