Holding down lead guitar duties for Finnish power metallers Sonata Arctica, Elias Viljanen has more than a trick or two up his sleeve. His melodic playing and energetic live performances captivate audiences all over the world, and ESP is proud to introduce Elias’s signature guitar.

Ex-demo items will show signs of use and wear, but nothing that negatively affects playability. This one has signs of use on the pickguard, a chip in the paint on the edge of the body, and the neck’s original finish has been sanded off to give the feel of natural wood. It’s come straight to us from the official ESP distributor for Europe, but given that the serial number dates it to 2013 and it shows wear and tear, its history is a bit of a mystery. Maybe an ex-demo that a member of ESP’s staff kept around for a long time? As a second hand item i’d class the condition as Very Good, as long as you think sanding off the neck varnish was a good move. Feels good to me! ESP hard case included. I’m not sure if this model usually comes with a certificate, but there is no certificate with this one.

As the lead guitarist of Finnish power metal band Sonata Arctica, Elias Viljanen covers a lot of ground from fluid, melodic leads to uber-progressive riffs and odd-tempo rhythms. The guitar he uses to help create the band’s legendary sound is his ESP E-II Signature Series model, the EV-7. It’s a very unique seven-string guitar that offers neck-thru-body construction at 25.5″ scale, pairing a comfortable alder body to a super fast, extra-thin U-shaped three-piece maple neck, with an ebony fingerboard that offers the band’s logo inlays and 24 extra-jumbo frets. It offers the top-tier components you expect from an E-II model, including a Schaller straplock, Gotoh tuners, a Floyd Rose Original bridge, and a pair of outstanding EMG 707 (neck) and EMG 81-7 (bridge) pickups. The E-II EV-7’s distinctive look is supplemented with a unique chrome pickguard over its black finish.
